Contract Mining

DRILL AND BLASTING SERVICES
We a fleet of high-pressure down-the-hole (DTH) and top hammer drill rigs. These are capable of various blast hole diameters required for any blast design. Amongst other safety and efficiency procedures, our good drilling practice includes constant monitoring of drill rig operating parameters and effective communication with blasting crew on any unusual conditions that may affect blast results. We provide the following services as required:

• Explosive supply options
• Trained and experienced drillers, shot firers and blast crews
• Highly skilled blasting engineers

MINE CLOSURE / MINE REHABILITATION
To restore the post-production landscape in keeping with our greener approach to mining, our mine closure planning experts develop a closure vision and implement a closure strategy.

Geophysical Surveys

Geophysical surveys are an extremely helpful tool for identifying areas of high exploration potential so that work programmes can be prioritised. Our geophysical experts can interpret regional geophysical and satellite data and provide a report on targets, intrusion detections, structural interpretations and alteration maps. Generation of a structural interpretation for a prospective area is a crucial part of the exploration process because almost all mineral deposits exhibit some degree of structural control. Using a proprietary edge‐detection filter we can develop a synthetic structure map using existing geophysical and/or topographic data. Results are a measure of asymmetry regardless of amplitude meaning that structures in areas of low contrast are highlighted just as well as those in areas of high contrast as long as the frequencies are present. One aspect of the design that makes the structure detection more versatile than other edge detection filters is that it works by determining asymmetry in various orientations. This allows us to quantify the major structural orientations in an area. It also lets us highlight features of certain orientations or that are parallel or perpendicular/oblique to a feature of interest.

Exploration Services

Our geological solutions range from grass-roots exploration to advanced resource definition drill-outs. This includes data compilations & reviews, target generation, programme design and planning, budgeting, drill supervision, logistics, project management and implementation. Our exploration teams are up to speed with the latest geophysical and geochemical techniques and are well trained, well equipped and well informed. When it comes to exploration management Simelo is ready to hit the ground running with competent, tailor made, hands-on exploration teams.

OVERBURDEN REMOVAL
When mining is complete our team effectively removes the overload and stores it for return to the mine pit.

Mining Services Lead

Mr Kwaw Kabaah is a Registered Professional Mining Engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

He has over 28years experience in Mining Production Operations, Mining Exploration & Developments including Projects (Basic Mine Design and Optimisation Whittle work), Mining Technical Assurance, Due Diligence and Governance, Technical Services Management and the Coordination and Compliance Enforcement of Health and Safety in the Mining Industry.

Mr Kwaw Kabaah has worked for Major Mining Companies namely then Johannesburg Consolidated Investment (JCI), De Beers Group of Mines, and the African Rainbow Minerals Limited (ARM). During his Career Mr Kabaah worked as a Mine Manager in Production Operations, Project Mining Engineer, and Lead Mining Engineer on various new projects including the AK06 Open Pit Diamond Operations in Botswana, the Sendelingsdrift Open Pit Diamond Project in Namibia, and the De Beers Post Block 4 Diamond Project at Finsch Mine.

Mr Kabaah has been in-charge, accountable and responsible for operating a budget in excess of US$100 Million.

Under his Management, Control and Care he has utilised up to 1200 capable Human Resource to achieve a Business Objective target of 10Million Waste Production tonnes and 4Million Ore Production tonnes respectively.

Mr Kabaah has Core Operational Specialisation in Mining Operations and in particular, start-up Operations.

He has also actively been involved as a Leader in the start-up of Small & Medium Mining Operations, such as the Steenkampskraal Monazite Mine, the Sebilo Resources (Pty) Ltd-Perth Manganese Project and the Chinese PMG Mining (Pty) Ltd. which are all in Southern Africa, where he had managed, controlled and supervised Contractors and under his watch conducted the selection of Service Providers for Mining Studies and Operational activities. During the period Mr Kabaah had a hands-on Mine Design work. In addition, Planned, Organised, Assembled, Allocated, Co- ordinated and Supervise a Mine Design Technical team to develop a Business Case Mining Production Cost Estimates and Schedule for execution and Implementation.

As a hands-on Professional Operational Leader he has built-up diverse, multi-facet experience through the working for reputable leading International Mining Companies, Medium and Small Scale Mine Operators. Through his participation and on several occasions as a Leader and Unit Leader, he had built a reputation and the capacity for addressing key challenges in most demanding complex mining situations. He has the ability to source, place and develop on-the-Job career oriented training for subordinates and team members and able to lead Multi-Disciplinary Operational Teams to achieve business results. In addition, able to design and implement a fit-for purpose organizational and cultural change resulting in sustainable improvement in business performance.

Mr. Kabaah has the ability to both engage and motivate workforce as well as to identify and resolve organizational and technical challenges that are usually obstacles to businesses reaching their full potential.
